Course Description

The course introduces the fundamental principles of bulk material handling that underpin effective process design. We will examine how these principles inform bench-scale testing and the data-collection strategies that guide engineering decisions. Participants will work through practical examples where test data is applied to the design of handling equipment. Through case studies, we will also explore the economic consequences of overlooking bulk material handling early in a project and how this affects flowsheet development and overall project planning

Intended Audience:

Ideal for a group of 15–25 participants, this course is tailored for engineering professionals, consultants, EPC teams, hydromet and pyromet specialists, plant managers and supervisors, and investors interested in emerging metallurgical technologies.

Presenters:
Brandon Trevis, G.I.T.
Brandon Trevis, G.I.T., a Project Coordinator at Jenike & Johanson in Mississauga. He hold a degree in Geology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and is currently pursuing his professional designation in Canada. He consults on a wide range of mining projects across PGE, gold, copper, lithium, and potash, with a focus on bulk material handling. His work emphasizes process and design solutions that optimize material handling and storage. He brings expertise in understanding the impact of comminution on material handling challenges, as well as in developing test programs that support flowsheet design and optimization.
Ruixue Wang, P.Eng.
Dr. Ruixue Wang, P.Eng., Ph.D. is a bulk materials handling specialist with more than 15 years of experience in reducing production and capital project risks across mining, energy, and industrial sectors. As Regional Manager and Senior Engineer at Jenike & Johanson, he advises project owners and engineering teams on material flow behaviour, system reliability, and risk mitigation for bulk solids handling installations. His work integrates laboratory characterization, engineering design, and field troubleshooting and retrofit to resolve complex flow issues and improve operational performance. Dr. Wang is also actively engaged in industry knowledge sharing, delivering lectures and professional training on bulk solids flow and system design.
The course is sponsored by Jenike & Johanson.
