Paper-Extended Abstract Guidelines
Contributor Agreement Publishing

Author guidelines and tasks

Produced in partnership with Springer, one of the largest and most respected scientific publishers in the world, COM 2022 proceedings offer you a clear advantage for the dissemination of your research.

  • Reach a global audience through the highly accessible SpringerLink online publishing platform.
  • Individually assigned DOI numbers for each proceedings article ensure the discoverability of your work.

Authors responsibilities:

  1. Use Paper/Extended abstract guidelines. All oral authors MUST submit a full (approx. 10 pages) paper or extended abstract (2-3 pages) paper for peer review. (Papers/ extended abstracts are optional for Plenary and keynote speakers).
  2. All authors must submit the Contributor Agreement copyright form. Manuscripts that do not have an accompanying copyright form will not be published.
  3. Each paper/presentation must have one author registered and paid by the deadline of May 15, 2022, for the paper to be published and the presentation to be scheduled within the technical program.
  4. Each presentation must be recorded by the presenting author for use by CIM for the CIM Academy or other technical presentation dissemination platforms.

Copyright – Contributor Agreement Form

Please upload your signed copyright form along with your manuscript to the submission site by your corresponding author. One author must have the full right, power, and authority to sign the agreement on behalf of all of the other authors of a particular manuscript and accepts responsibility for releasing this material on their behalf. The copyright in the Contribution shall be vested in the name of the Author.

All authors submitting papers/extended abstracts must grant Springer specific permission to publish the work. This is a legal requirement that arises from provisions of copyright law and acts as additional protection for you. The corresponding author must upload a signed scanned version of the Contributor Agreement along with the final manuscript so that we may start with the production of the book. Each corresponding author should print the form, enter the title of the Paper/extended Abstract as well as the names of the authors at the top of the form and sign it. Important: details of the authors (sequence, names, name, and affiliation of the corresponding author) given in the Contributor Agreement should be complete, final, and correspond to the details given in the manuscript. As this is a legal document, we cannot accept changes at a later stage and ask for your understanding in this matter.

We strongly recommend that all chapter authors (corresponding authors, co-authors, contributing authors) include their affiliation and email address in their manuscript.

  • Note for Government Employees: Authors who work for the Government of Canada and have Crown copyrights may grant Springer permission to publish by sending their internal government form noting the paper title and authors duly signed. The copyright will remain with the Crown and Springer will publish the paper with permission.

Using 3rd Party Materials:

Third-party content is defined as any material within the manuscript that is not your original work. Third-party content may consist of text passages, figures, photos, poems, song lyrics, screenshots, etc. and be found in many places such as, but not limited to, the Internet, print and online books and articles, theses, annual reports, conference material, photocopies, course packages, and translations.

As author, you are responsible for clearing the rights for any third-party content. We recommend keeping all quotations and inclusion of copyrighted material to a minimum wherever possible, as gaining permissions can be time-consuming and expensive for the author.

To obtain permission to use third-party material in the manuscript please exert your best efforts to use the Springer Permissions Request Form and/or Release Request Form (to obtain permission from interviewees or other identifiable individuals or the owners of identifiable property in source material) for your request.

Typesetting of your Paper or Extended Abstract at Springer

Please make sure that the manuscript you submit is final and complete, that any copyright issues have been resolved, that the authors listed at the top of the manuscript really are the final authors, and that you have not omitted any references. Following publication, it is not possible to alter or withdraw your manuscript. Kindly note that we prefer the use of American English.
